Untold Red Secrets
"Oi! Go and light the lamp in the temple. Your sister cannot do it today."
"Why Ma? Why can’t she light the lamp today?"
Another conversation overhead at the corporate office cafeteria:
"Hey! What’s up with Shruti? Why is she looking sad?"
"Ah! She must be PMSing".
An interesting exchange between a feminist and an environmentalist:
She: "As a feminist, I feel a woman needs to have easy access to sanitary pads that she can use and dispose at will."
He: "What if this single use plastic pad once disposed causes a lot of harm to our planet? Also, who ‘handles’ the waste once its out from your home?"
She: "You are a misogynist!"
* * *
These are just three examples of social conditioning based on misunderstood traditions, misplaced understanding of human biology and unnecessary conflict between women health vs environment health largely insinuated by the unethical marketing by the pad making companies.
Through this live session we aim to:
1) to dispel the notions of impurity associated with menstruating woman - a beautiful sign of fertility and creation by Mother Nature.
2) smash some of the existing taboo against menstruating woman.
3) bring in some reasoned clarity on how there need not be a conflict of woman’s health vs environmental health.
4) highlight the plight of the waste workers who have to ‘handle' someone else’s sanitary waste.
Combining reason with passion,we have Nidarshana @the_sustainable_indian and Kamana @mycocktail_life, two sustainability practitioners who are joining us to shed some insight and experience on their journey towards sustainable menstruation.
Also, this session is not just for women. Pls share the post and pull along your partners, brothers and fathers to learn and understand about the Untold Red Secrets. It’s high time that we also have men understanding mens-truation. :)

People Care & Fair Share
These two ethics of Permaculture are often missed by folks looking at a Permaculture project from afar. Understandably so, as 'Earth Care' is a more visible ethic. Also, when you see a regenerative forest evolve in all its glory it captures our imagination as such that there is very little room left to process anything else.
However, one of the core reasons of success of any regenerative project are the people who hold the fort. No, not just one person, but the entire team behind it. The strong shoulders, the deft fingers, the calves of steel, the indomitable will and the warm smiles...together they can move mountains.
Over the years, as we grew, our team has evolved and grown along with us. The Dajus, Didis, Badas and Badis now make up the core identity of what Tieedi stands for.
And today, on Labour day, as a team, we reaffirm our commitment to ride through this storm together.
P.S. : Pictures are from a beautiful day last year when we got the team to dress up in our ethnic attire to serenade the forest. :)
