Maato! Close your eyes and say it out aloud! :) Happy World Soil Day Folks!
Was there a flood of emotions that take you back to your childhood where you can hear your grandmother chiding you and your siblings for rolling in the mud?
We are pretty stoked with amazing progress of the composting facility at OKC Monastery. ♻️ If we all adopt these regenerative systems around us, we might have a chance to stem the rising tide of degenerative systems that threatens to destroy the life on our planet as we know it. ♻️ Composting is the most revolutionary act that you can do as an individual or a group as it will help in: ♻️ 1) Reduction of greenhouse gases that emanate from toxic landfills. ♻️ 2) Getting the nutrients back into the soil by covnverting food waste into compost anf closing this circular loop of farm - table - farm. It helps you restore the top soil of the world which is getting depleted at a rapid rate. What's more you can start growing your own organic food from your own compost! ♻️ 3) When you compost food waste you ensure better recycling of plastic products as plastic that is contaminated with food waste cannot be recycled. ♻️ 4) You ensure cleaner sorroundings and better work conditions for the waste pickers as now they have to deal with only dry, non decomposing waste. ♻️ DM us if you would like to know more about composting or if you would like us to build a unit for you at your home, apartment complexes or community spaces. ♻️ ♻️ ♻️ In the video: Tieedi volunteers Jonathan and Marlena helping the monks with the turning of the compost. ♻️ #TieediBlackGold #Composting #ExtinctionRebellion #RegenerativeSystems ... 3 years ago... As fresh graduates of Rico's Permaculture Design Certification course, we had invited Rico to take his feedback on the land we chosen to kickstart our Permaculture journey. As we walked down the trail, the following conversation ensued. Uts: "Hey Rico! What's your first perception about this place, in one word?" Rico: *almost missing a step in the narrow almost non-existent animal trail* "STEEEEPPPP!" Uts: :D Rico: "But seriously, how are you going to work this land? It's so steep!" A few days ago... As we open the entrance door of the #TieediAirDwelling... Uts: "So what do you think Rico?" Rico: *A sparkle of pride flashes across his hard-to-please but immensely wise eyes.* That's it! We got our answer! :) . . . . ******** Rico Zook, is one of the most experienced and respected Permaculturist in the world. He conducts a PDC course in Darjeeling once every year. It is one of the longest running Permaculture courses in Asia (from 2005!). We are his students from the awesome 2016 batch and everytime our Guru visits us we feel like this school kid (with hands folded behind) who is waiting in anticipation of his favorite teacher's feedback on the project work on which he has invested his heart and soul! T'was a pleasure meeting you again Rico [email protected] Thank you for everything! :) Pic 1: Rico and Reed sharing with us their insights on what it would take build a forest pond (Yup! That's coming up in Tieedi soon!) Pic 2: Despite his protracted permaculture observation skills, he sucked miserably in playing a game of Bluff with our volunteers. :D ... See more
