A peaceful mudhouse beside a gushing mountain brook. Nestled within a
permaculture forest garden. A wonderful setting with nature for your
sustainable luxury mud cottage homestay based on permaculture principles,
focusing on creating regenerative, self-sustaining ecosystems that work in
harmony.
The Space
Our place is part of a forest garden project where we are trying to revive
a neglected acre of land into a forest that’s bursting with life. So even
though you are connected to the highway, you would get to experience the joy
of being amidst brooding trees, chirping birds, and gurgling rivers. You can
find your own solitude spot in the forest or mingle with backpackers and
travelers from across the world to share experiences and travel stories. The
earth house opens to our private rivulet and is surrounded by cardamom
plantations and old forest trees.
Guest Access
Guests are welcome to explore all nooks and corners of our forest garden.
They can search and discover our TIEEDI waterfall, bask in the sunlight
under a large canopy of magnolia trees, or dip their toes in the gurgling
mountain river.
During Your Stay
Having lived the life of a backpacker ourselves, we can recommend the best
places to visit in Darjeeling for viewing tourist spots as well as secret,
offbeat destinations in and around Darjeeling (and to other backpacker
hotspots in India). We also love having conversations with our guests about
trekking, mountaineering, and travel in general.
Other Things To Note
We are a bunch of foodies, and we will serve you the tastiest of local
delicacies that are either organically grown in our vegetable gardens or
sourced from local organic farmers. The meal charge right now is Rs. 150
per meal. We have a service charge of 30% for room service.
You also have the option to earn your meals for the whole day by
volunteering for 6 hours/day in one of our projects. Alternatively, you
can dine out at local restaurants, just a 100-meter walk away from our
place.
Please note that the earth house is connected to the motorable road by a
stone-paved pathway through our private forest. It is a 5-minute hike from
the main road. We will transport your luggage, but we expect you to be fit
enough to walk this trail to the dwelling.
We are on a quest to create a plastic-free environment, so guests are
requested to use only the designated trash bins for disposing of their
organic and inorganic waste.
